Acceptable Use Policy

A short list of things that cannot run on shared infrastructure, and what happens if they do.

This policy applies to every application, service, and database we operate on your behalf. It exists so that one account cannot put every other account at risk.

Prohibited content and activity

  • Illegal content, or activity that violates applicable law
  • Malware distribution, phishing, or credential harvesting
  • Bulk unsolicited email, however it is generated or relayed
  • Cryptocurrency mining, in any form
  • Resource use that degrades service for other customers, including deliberate load generation and unbounded automated traffic
  • Resale or sublicensing of platform resources to third parties without a written agreement
  • Attempts to access, probe, or interfere with infrastructure or accounts that are not yours

Your responsibilities

  • The legality of the content your application stores and serves
  • Keeping credentials, API keys, and administrative access secure
  • Telling us promptly if you believe an account has been compromised
  • The behavior of anyone you give access to, including your own staff and contractors

Enforcement

Our first step is a notice, sent to the account contact, describing what we found and what needs to change. We give a reasonable period to fix it.

We suspend without a cure period only where the activity is egregious, unlawful, or actively harming other customers or the platform — for example an ongoing attack, active malware distribution, or traffic that is taking other accounts down. In that case we suspend first and contact you immediately after.

Suspension for cause does not remove your data. Your export rights continue to apply, on the same terms as everywhere else on this site.

Reporting abuse

If you believe something we host violates this policy, write tosupport@vettahosting.com with the URL and what you observed. We investigate every report.
